The Orchestra a Plettro della Penisola Sorrentina develops original projects that intertwine music, word and theatre. Each project is an autonomous artistic journey, conceived to enhance the repertoire for plucked instruments and open it to new expressive forms.<\/p>

One of the most intense pages of Sacred Music, the Stabat Mater<\/em> by Giovanni Battista Pergolesi, becomes the heart of an artistic project in which Music, Word and Theatre intertwine in a journey of great emotional power.<\/p>

At the centre of the evening is the narrating voice of Cristina Donadio, an actress of extraordinary interpretative intensity, who will guide the audience through a journey of reflection and poetic suggestion. Her readings, freely drawn from In nome della madre<\/em> by Erri De Luca, will dialogue with the music of the Stabat Mater, amplifying its human and spiritual meaning: the mother's pain before her son's suffering, but also the capacity of weeping to turn into awareness, memory and redemption.<\/p>

The musical dimension is entrusted to the Orchestra a plettro della Penisola Sorrentina, conducted by Michele de Martino, which presents the work in a refined timbral guise in which the sound of mandolins, mandolas and guitars restores to the score a particular luminosity and transparency.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t

The project proposal stems from the intention to bring into communication, combining them, two pre-existing and well-established educational and musical experiences with a strong inclusive capacity: the Orchestra a Plettri della Penisola Sorrentina and Le Voci del 48.<\/p>

The Orchestra a Plettro della Penisola Sorrentina was founded in 2020, on the initiative of Michele de Martino, with the aim of promoting the rediscovery of the mandolin repertoire and the desire to encourage the creation of new compositions dedicated to this type of ensemble. With a watchful eye on the new generations, in October 2022 OPPS launched a completely free mandolin course for young people aged 10 to 18 (OPPS Junior).<\/p>

The Coro Le Voci del 48 was founded as a children's choir in 2009 as part of a series of initiatives undertaken by what was then the 48th Circolo Didattico of Naples, which still operates as a comprehensive school with a musical curriculum in the eastern outskirts of Naples.<\/p>

The opportunity to celebrate the Festa della Musica at the Naples premises of Gallerie d'Italia appeared to be the perfect occasion to translate the involvement of the two groups into a fruitful and synergic musical moment. The idea is to investigate the strong bond that ties Naples to music, offering a timbrally unusual perspective \u2014 choir and plectrums \u2014 to celebrate this strong connection.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t
